Cold Weather Precautions

As the cold weather begins to set in, we always like to remind you that the low temperatures bring an increased risk of damage to your home and personal belongings. Taking some basic precautions can help avoid pipes freezing - or worse - bursting with devastating effect.

Leave your heating switched on over the winter months – especially during the night. If you have a thermostat for your heating system set it to at least 10º C.

Take a few minutes to find out where your stopcock is. This will be time well spent if you’re faced with an emergency. The main stopcock is usually in the street, or where the water supply enters your building. If you need help – phone us!

If you are going away please let us know! We’ll offer advice and assistance in relation to draining down the plumbing system if necessary. Leave a door key with a neighbour or relative and tell us how, in an emergency, we can contact the person who has the key.
