Transfers and exchanges

When we allocate homes we make sure that the property is suitable for its occupants.  We do realise however, that households and household circumstances change over time.

It may be that your home is now too small or indeed too large for your family or that you need to change house due to medical reasons.

Due to the shortage of vacant properties and the very few vacancies that occur, it may take some time to obtain a move through the Common Housing Register or you may not qualify for a move at all.

If this is the case, you may apply for a Mutual Exchange.  The Association operates an exchange scheme in conjunction with Hillcrest Housing Association & Perth and Kinross Council.  This is a new computerised system where matches for a potential exchange are based on the information you provide.

An application form for the Mutual Exchange Register can be sent out to you or one can be picked up from our office.  Completed forms can be returned to our office or your nearest Council office.

Once your application has been recorded a list of potential exchanges can be printed in our office for you or be sent to you upon your request.

Certain conditions can apply before a mutual exchange can proceed: –

  • You must have conducted your tenancy in a satisfactory manner;
  • Both parties must agree to swap.
  • The properties must be of a suitable size and type for both households.
  • Your rent must be paid up to date (no arrears)
